Have you ever wanted to learn how to make your own comics and graphic novels? Now you can in this hour and a half workshop for teens with a comic book legend!
Join us at the Downtown branch library and learn from the Godfather of the American Graphic Novel, Phil Yeh! Phil will walk you through the creative process, from art to writing. Learn all about the process and about Phil’s friends in the world of comics such as, Charles Schulz (Peanuts), Kevin Eastman & Peter Laird (creators of the Ninja Turtles), and Jerry Robinson (creator of the Joker), and much more!
Instructor Bio: Phil Yeh, also known as the Godfather of the American Graphic Novel, has been traveling the world for 39 years, promoting literacy and creativity with his workshops, speaking engagements, and mural events with the group he founded, Cartoonists Across America & the World.
Phil has written 90 books and comics, including Dinosaurs Across America, which is the fun way to learn the facts of the states. Dinosaurs Across America won a Children’s Choice award and was named as one of the top graphic novels for kids to promote lifelong reading by the School Library Journal. He also created one of the first graphic novels in the US in 1977, called Even Cazco Gets the Blues.
