Welcome to Capitola Plein Air! This November, forty professional artists will arrive in Capitola to paint the town…literally!

Exhibition & Art Sale at New Brighton Middle School Auditorium on November 9th. Artists set up their easels on the wharf, shore, and streets of beautiful Capitola, to paint live for four days. You’ll find hundreds of paintings on display, for sale, and entered into competition. You can take home a piece of Capitola culture, vote for your favorites for the People’s Choice Award, have a delicious meal from the food trucks, or get creative and make some art yourself!

Monday November 3: Painting begins!
Tuesday 11/3 – Saturday 11/8: Painting continues!
Saturday November 8: Quick Paint! Live music! 10am-2pm, Capitola Esplanade Park, 120 Monterey Avenue. Artists will supply their own 8×10 canvas for the Quick Paint. This is a great opportunity to attract attention to the event. Painting is from 11am-1pm to paint and return for People’s Choice judging.
Sunday November 9: Exhibition, Competition, and Sale, 11am-4pm, New Brighton Middle School Auditorium, 250 Washburn Avenue, Capitola, Live Music by Cement Ship
- 11am – Doors Open to the public.
- 11:00 am -4:00 pm – Live music, two community art-making activities, and food truck will be present. Lunches will be provided to artists.
- 11:30am – Awards Presentation. *all artworks are available for sale, however the first place winning piece may not be taken home by the artist nor purchaser. The city will take this piece for professional digitization and then return to the artist or buyer when this is complete.
- 3:00 pm – People’s Choice and Artists’ Choice awards presentation.
More than 100 framed paintings will be on display for the competition, exhibition, and sale. The public is invited to vote for the People’s Choice Award.
