FreeBilingual Día de los Muertos
Felton branch Saturday, November 6, 2pm
Capitola branch Sunday, November 7, 2pm
The celebration continues with Día de los Muertos, when SCPL invites the community to contribute to our Día de los Muertos altars through creative contributions such as: drawings, photos, letters, stories, poetry, art or ephemera. Altars will be displayed in the Capitola and Felton library branches. All are invited to submit artifacts in person at the Felton and Capitola branch libraries or send images and other digital files by email to danzigerj@santacruzpl.org by Monday, October 18 to participate in decorating our community altars.
All 2-dimensional physical contributions will be photocopied and originals will be returned. We ask participants to indicate if you wish to have your name included or if you want to be anonymous. Contributions, along with photos of the program series will be compiled into a book that can be borrowed from the library early next year. Participants will be entered into a drawing to win their own copy.
Finally, the entire community is invited to join us for our bilingual Día de los Muertos celebrations at the Felton branch at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, and at the Capitola branch 2 p.m. on Sunday November 7th. A Spanish storytime and light refreshments will be provided (wrapped up to-go for your safety).
