FreeAB626, Legalizing Permitted Home Cooking in Santa Cruz County
Saturday, February 19, 10:30am – 12pm
Join us at the beautiful Thomas Farm in Aptos for an informational gathering and discussion on getting bill AB626 adopted into Santa Cruz County. This is also referred to as the “Home Cooking” bill because it legally allows people to cook and sell meals from their permitted home kitchens.
We’ll be discussing all aspects of the bill and how this new home business model referred to as “Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operations”, (MEHKO’s), allows a legal, economical & socially just “path to entry” into the food business.
To date, nine counties in CA. have adopted this bill with more on the way! This is an exciting time for the expansion of small artisanal food industries that are concerned with the safety and nutritional values of our food systems. MEHKO’s are a new business model that values fostering good citizenship while building healthy communities through home cooked food that supports our local economy.
This event is held in a beautiful outdoor group area with social distancing and county covid regulations observed. Please bring masks.
This gathering is free and open to the public with an attendance limit of 30 people.
Hope to see you there!
