The READ program (Reading Equine Art Duo) was developed by Lisa M. Algee who has been a Reading Specialist for over 20 years. She has a Ph.D. in Education and a minor in psychology.
This program is designed for struggling readers who enjoy art and flourish in nature with animals, in this case, her miniature horse named Ziggy. Together, Lisa and Ziggy create a nurturing learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks with their learning.
One-on-one sessions are specifically designed to strengthen reading processes and skills, in addition to providing a creative outlet with watercolor painting.
As students master each session, their confidence and self esteem begins to grow.
Lisa and Ziggy believe that every student is capable of reaching their full potential.
