German Holiday Market

The German Holiday Market (Weihnachtsmarkt), a family-friendly and free Christmas market, returns to Mountain View City Hall Plaza on Saturday, Dec. 9th, 11am – 9pm. The community of parents, students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the German International School of Silicon Valley recreate the festive atmosphere of a traditional open-air, European-style winter market in downtown Mountain View. Shop for unique, handcrafted gifts from Germany and local artisans and merchants: Wood ornaments, nutcrackers, Lebkuchen (gingerbread), Stollen, and books from Germany; toys, books, clothing, candles, soap, ceramics, wood goods, and other gifts. Taste traditional German sausages and pretzels and warm up with a mug of Glühwein (warm mulled wine), the hallmark of these winter markets. The German Holiday Market offers plenty of activities for the entire family, including live performances, carnival games, arts and crafts, rides, a giant slide, a choo-choo train, and a petting zoo. Santa will come down from the North Pole to visit the German Holiday Market.

This event raises funds for the German International School of Silicon Valley, a nonprofit Preschool – Grade 12 bilingual school with campuses in Mountain View and San Francisco. You are invited to step into Germany for a day. Come enjoy this seasonal celebration!
