What do you use ChatGPT or other AI for? Your tips, please!

K – So far, I have mostly used ChatGPT for: 1. Recipes for my 4 quart crock pot 2. Travel planning 3. researching purchases with very specific criteria – found my tent thanks to ChatGPT! 4. Charting the next (potential) steps in teaching social media and AI!

F – It never occurred to me to use it for recipes. My favorite AI source is Siri because it’s instantly available without having to open an app or even unlock my phone, in many cases. My favorite use is asking for information pertaining to topics I’m reading about or discussing with others.  I’ve used Chat GPT to create a few illustrations for FB posts. I’ve also used it on a contracting project (at the client’s request) to generate summaries of a large number of articles for their website.

Z – I’ve read the articles about why it’s bad for the planet and bad for the species, so I feel a bit guilty about it, the same way I feel guilty about using Amazon, but, damn! – Siri sure is handy!

J -Any technical questions I have and to make flyers. Also to fact check memes

JJ – I do a lot of fact checking, looking up stuff like phone plans, poring through legalese, dumping pdfs into it and asking questions I want answers to what I know is covered in the pdfs, and filling in gaps in my awareness about stuff, like asking how to get a phone or computer to do something that I think it’s supposed to handle, if I only knew how to configure it. Grok does fine on all those fronts, and odds are the others do, too.

R – For almost any question that comes to mind. I use it umpteen times every day

C – Everything, everyday, all at once. Research, planning, task creation, coding, design comps.

D – I’m one of the 20% that pays chat gpt and use it constantly —research and fact checking, correct spelling, grammar (mostly Grammarly can do this, and you choose, it makes suggestions, likewise MS Word). Also can organize thoughts, summarize PDFs I’ve saved and use it as an editor —takes lots of work as you have to be explicit on what you want. Also playing with several dozen cartoons —it does a fair job BUT if I could draw it would be much easier.

JR – Everything. Every question that pops up in my head. which is a lot.

JM – Yes. I’ll hit up a couple of them to see if they jive.

B – I’m using it for landscape design

RM – As a photographer I use an app called Topaz Sharpen AI to sharpen pictures. In many cases it does a great job and has occasionally saved pictures I would otherwise have discarded. I would, however, never use AI to generate or modify any visual content in my work.

L – Yesterday I asked Claude, if I like (these six) poets, what other ones would I enjoy? And he gave me a great list, and told me why I’d like their work.

A – I have chatgpt take my list of asl signs I’m learning and make me the fewest sentences for me to practice in a flashcard app. every time I add a few words to my list, chat gpt can make me new sentences to practice.
