Using local and sustainability sourced resources\, participants will learn the basics of environmental sculpture and design with step-by-step instruction. Transform sea glass\, driftwood\, and botanicals into unique\, coastal-inspired art. \nIn this workshop\, you’ll create an 8×10 sea glass winter scene that adds a local touch of coastal charm to your home. Join us for a creative experience and leave with a finished framed piece that captures the magic of the shore in winter. Perfect for a holiday gift\, a personal home decoration\, or an activity to be shared with friends or family. \nNo prior art experience required. Participants will have a completed art piece to take home at the conclusion of the workshop. Open to ages 21+/all experience levels. Wine\, cheese\, and other light refreshments will be served. All art supplies included. \nRegister \nClass Size: Limited to 20 participants\, open to Ages 16+\nClass Fee: $40 – Museum Members receive a special discounted price applied at checkout.\nMaterials Fee: All supplies are included in class fee. The Santa Cruz Museum Partnership is hosting Santa Cruz Museum Month throughout October 2023. This year\, anyone can use a special free Museum Month Pass to explore 10 local museums. \nMuseum Month partners Wonderland Toys and Classroom Resources\, First5 Santa Cruz County\, and Triple P are making passes available for FREE by stopping into the Wonderland store in Aptos (19 Rancho Del Mar AB\, Aptos\, CA 95003) or through locations around the county through First5/ TripleP. One pass provides access for up to four people to all 10 museums for the whole month of October.

DESCRIPTION:Nature Club: Neary Lagoon and Migratory Madness 2022\nSaturday\, November 5th | 10am – 12:30pm \nNeary Lagoon in the autumn is full of life! Migratory birds seek food and shelter in large numbers and provide excellent opportunities to study them up close. The Museum will provide binoculars for each participant \nLocation: Neary Lagoon\nAges: 6th-8th grade\n$10 |$5 Museum Members | Register \nWhat is Nature Club?\nNature Club takes young explorers (6th-8th Grade) into local habitats to learn about the amazing living world around us while making discoveries along the way. Programs are led by Museum staff with kids dropped off at rotating locations\, including local parks\, open spaces\, and of course at the Museum! Exploration and activities help kids learn more about nature through observation and experience while developing a deeper connection to nature and making new friends. \nWhat to Expect\nPrograms run from 10:00 a.m -12:30 p.m. and occur on the first Saturday of the month. The Museum does not provide transportation to offsite meeting spots\, and participants should be dropped off and picked up by parents/guardians. Some programs may be physically rigorous so please email chris.soriano@santacruzmuseum.org if you have questions about trail accessibility. Programs occur rain or shine\, barring extreme weather. \nSafety\nNature Club will run in compliance with state and county guidance for health and safety. Participants should not attend if they have been coughing\, have a fever\, or had recent contact with someone with a positive test. \nScholarships available!
