DESCRIPTION:Strawberry Jam 1K/5K Fun Run/Walk\nSaturday\, August 5\, 6:45am \nThe 2nd Annual Strawberry Jam 1K/5K Fun Run/Walk will be held on Saturday\, August 5\, at Ramsay Park in Watsonville. The races start and finish at Ramsay. The Strawberry Jam Fun Run is presented by the Friends of Watsonville Parks and Community Services and the Rotary Club of Freedom in conjunction with the Watsonville Strawberry Festival. \nThis is a moderate hilly\, fun course that starts and ends at Ramsay Park and traverses Watsonville’s famous sloughs with an out and back section on Ohlone Parkway. No dogs\, but families and strollers are welcome. Register on Active.com or on day of race. Races will be coordinated by the Santa Cruz Track Club. \nCheck-in on race day begins at 6:45am at Ramsay Park parking lot. The Kids 1K Fun Run/Walk begins promptly at 7:45am. *Parents are welcome to join and guide their kids through the 1K run. The 5k Fun Run/Walk will follow for those of ages 12+ starting at 8am. There will be portable restrooms and water stations available on day of race. The YouthSERVE Summer Institute offers a FREE 4-week program\, ages 11-18\, that lets you earn community service hours\, collaborate with amazing peers\, and discover your own power to transform our community through service.\n\n\n\nOur group will meet for 4-day sessions each week\, focusing on different impactful projects:\n\n\nSession 1: June 19-22   Dig into food systems and food security. We’ll be at Second Harvest Food Bank\, Homeless Garden Project\, Grey Bears\, and City of Santa Cruz Parks Department.\n\n\nSession 2: June 26-29   Help preserve our environment and make a positive environmental impact by serving in parks and open spaces throughout Santa Cruz County.\n\n\nSession 3: July 24-27   Dive back into food systems and food security. Join us at Second Harvest Food Bank\, Homeless Garden Project\, Grey Bears\, and City of Santa Cruz Parks Department to make a meaningful difference.\n\n\nSession 4: July 31-August 3   Let’s continue our environmental journey by serving in parks and open spaces throughout Santa Cruz County. You’ll hear a wide range of music: Old-timey\, Bluegrass\, Classical\, Blues\, Folk… We always have spontaneous jamming taking place under the trees around the festival; you’ll enjoy lots of different musical styles including old-time\, bluegrass\, Irish and general folk. “SO COME ON BY AND HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!” \nSaw Festival Program: \n\n10:00 – The Public Knew Sense\n11:00 – Musical Saw Contest\n11:50 – Wildcat Canyon – featuring Dilly\n12:30 – The Blacklock Family Band\n1:00 – Cindy Webster\n1:30 – Lou Mannick & Sam Yodice\n2:00 – Rodney’s Bubble Machine\n2:30 – Two Bar Three featuring Thomas Spearance\n3:00 – The Golden State Worriers featuring Rowena Southard\n3:30 – Presentation of Awards\n3:40 – First Place Winner of Musical Saw Contest\n4:00 – CHORUS OF SAWS (ALL Sawplayers welcome)\n4:30 – Sawyer’s Farewell\n\nThe event is free.
