More details to come! \n\n\nEveryone is welcome and “may the forest be with you!” at the 18th annual Summit for the Planet on Saturday\, May 4 from 9:00am to 1:00pm at Mount Madonna School.\n\nThis free admission public festival begins with a 5K family hike that winds through enchanted trails lined with majesticmredwoods and eucalyptus trees. Catch a glimpse of Monterey Bay at the finish line where you will be greeted with delicious vegetarian fare and live music. Wander the eco-carnival and enjoy games\, live animals\, a model solar-powered vehicle race\, recycled “trash” fashion show and more!\nWith a nod to popular “Star Wars” culture\, attendees are invited to come dressed as their favorite character from the film franchise and enjoy a fun\, “intergalactic” Earth Day celebration. Note\, please no lightsabers; weapons (or weapon-like accessories) of any kind are not allowed.\n\nHike registration begins at 9:00am; the hike starts at 10:00am\, with the eco-carnival opening at 11:00am\, followed by music\, the Trash Fashion show and learning expo. The event concludes at 1:00pm.\nFrom California kingsnakes and turkey vultures to barn owls and bearded dragons\, the opportunity to get up close and hands-on with wildlife at the annual Summit for the Planet Earth Day festival is always a huge draw. Children and adults alike enjoy the many birds\, reptiles and amphibians shared by the Bay Area Herpetological Society (BAHS) and Wildlife Education Rehabilitation Center (WERC)\, two participants in this community eco-festival.\n\nWith its unique spotlight on environmental education\, the Summit for the Planet festival has grown to some 500 people of all ages\, from south Santa Clara\, San Benito\, Santa Cruz and Monterey counties.

When you leave elementary school and get into middle school\, sometimes you start not wanting to do fun kid stuff\, and I feel that shouldn’t happen. You should continue to enjoy childlike things; better enjoy it while you can and don’t grow up in a negative sense!” \nEighth grader Deja Orozco is cast in the role of Santa Claus. \n“Santa wants people to be on the good list and doesn’t enjoy giving people coal\, said Orozco. Santa cares for people a lot\, and I really do care about my loved ones too. Santa Claus likes to teach the elves\, and I like to do this too; I teach my niece how to be caring and how to interact with people who aren’t being nice to her. DESCRIPTION:Mount Madonna Campus Tour\nWednesday\, July 19\, 9:30 – 11am \nIf you’re rethinking your school choice\, Mount Madonna’s summer Campus Tour is a great way to get a feel for our unique campus environment in person and learn about our care in educating future leaders. \nMount Madonna School (MMS) is nestled on 375 acres overlooking Monterey Bay and serves students from preschool to grade 12. We are located between Gilroy and Watsonville and offer a picturesque setting for your child to grow and learn. \nAttending our Campus Tour is a great way to see our unique learning environment\, learn about MMS programs\, get your individual questions answered as well as meet faculty and administrators and see our program in action! \nAt our Campus Tour you will:\n-Meet our Head of School\n-Meet our Division Directors\n-Visit classrooms and tour our campus facilities\n-Interact with current students and our amazing faculty\n\nCampus Tours are about 2 hours in duration and will include plenty of fresh air and walking. Please dress accordingly.\n\nA tour is not required for admissions but can be a helpful stepping stone in the admissions process. All seats are reserved and tickets are available at mountmadonnaschool.org/ramayana. \nThe production features a cast of students ranging from preschool to high school\, and includes traditional and contemporary music and features an adult choir and musicians\, with more than a dozen original\, standout songs. \n“The production of ‘Ramayana!‘ has been central to Mount Madonna School since its founding\,” said Head of School Ann Goewert. “With this show\, we carry forward a tradition inspired by Baba Hari Dass (1923-2018) and supported by the Mount Madonna Center. It’s the culmination of months of work during the academic year and is a year-end celebration for our community embracing diversity and creative self-expression. The Ramayana is a timeless classic teaching the universal values of truth\, duty\, love and service to the greater good.
