SUMMARY:Postpartum Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Postpartum Support International\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNEW SUPPORT GROUP!\n\n\n\nPostpartum Psychosis (PPP) is rare. It occurs in approximately 1 to 2 out of every 1\,000 deliveries.  After a PPP survivor’s symptoms have been stabilized\, peer support can be an important tool for recovery. Because PPP occurs less often than other perinatal mood disorders\, survivors can go their whole lives without meeting another PPP survivor.  In response\, PSI has created an online peer-to-peer support group for PPP survivors. This group is intended for those who are in recovery (no longer experiencing psychosis).   Whether your PPP experience was relatively recent or years ago\, you are welcome to attend our free\, online peer-to-peer support group.\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister here: https://www.postpartum.net/…/psi-online-support-meetings/\nFull Meeting Schedule

SUMMARY:Virtual Author Talk with Katherine Applegate (3rd-6th Grade)
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Author Talk with Katherine Applegate (3rd-6th Grade)\nTuesday\, June 24\, 1 – 2pm\n\nLiving the Otter Life with Katherine Applegate (3rd-6th Grade) \nJoin us as award-winning author and summer reading champion Katherine Applegate talks to viewers about her enthusiastically heartwarming novel in verse\, Odder.  \nEveryone wants to meet Odder\, the Queen of Play. Odder spends her days off the coast of central California\, practicing her underwater acrobatics and spinning the quirky stories for which she’s known. She’s a fearless daredevil\, curious to a fault. But when Odder comes face-to-face with a hungry great white shark\, her life takes a dramatic turn\, one that will challenge everything she believes about herself―and about the humans who hope to save her. \nKatherine Applegate’s Odder\, is inspired by the true story of a Monterey Bay Aquarium program that pairs orphaned otter pups with surrogate mothers. This poignant and humorous tale told in free verse examines bravery and healing through the eyes of one of nature’s most beloved and charming animals. \nJoin the conversation and register at https://libraryc.org/santacruzpl/77670. \nAbout the Author: Katherine Applegate is the Newbery Medal-winning and #1 New York Times bestselling author of numerous books for young readers\, including The One and Only Ivan\, Wishtree\, Crenshaw\, the Endling series\, the Roscoe Riley Rules chapter books series\, and the Animorphs series.  She lives with her husband\, who writes as the author Michael Grant\, and their children in California. \nFor upcoming author talks\, visit https://libraryc.org/santacruzpl/upcoming. \nSCPL’s Virtual Author Talks are made possible by the Friends of the Capitola Library.

DESCRIPTION:Downtown Farmers Market\nWednesdays\, May – Oct 1 – 6pm; Nov – April 1 – 5pm \nThe Downtown Santa Cruz Market runs year-round on Wednesdays\, 1-6pm May through October and 1-5pm November through April. Our largest and oldest market\, it is situated in the heart of Downtown Santa Cruz\, one block off of Pacific Avenue. Established in 1990\, many of the farms that sell here were and remain pillars of the organic and ecological farming movement. This is the place to eat with the seasons! The variety of fruits\, vegetables\, flowers\, pastured meats and other products is swoon worthy. \nThe Downtown Market also spotlights a large variety of up-and-coming\, unique cultural food businesses. This weekly spot may serve up the most diverse selection of ethnic foods in the county including momo\, naan and curry\, Japanese fermented misos\, Eritrean dishes\, crepes\, El Salvadorean pupusas\, traditional Italian cookies\, fish and chips and long-ferment fresh breads. Shopping at the Wednesday market is a wonderful way to support regional responsible farms and small local businesses. Fill your grocery bags! Then sit down for a delightful meal and rest your weary arms. \n

SUMMARY:Old Blind Dogs-Scotland's Amazing Award Winning Celtic Band
DESCRIPTION:Old Blind Dogs-Scotland’s Amazing Award Winning Celtic Band\nWednesday\, June 25\, 7:30 – 10:30pm \nThe musical evolution of Old Blind Dogs began in Aberdeen in 1992 with roots that grew from the eclectic music scene that flourished in the Granite City during the early 90’s. \nFour musicians from very different musical backgrounds came together to create a full-time professional touring band with the aim of showcasing the rich tradition of songs and tunes of the North East of Scotland on an international stage. Like many of the early flag bearing Scottish folk bands\, the Old Blind Dogs line up has faced inevitable changes over the years but the core values at the band’s musical heart continue to beat strong. \nThe current band line up has been settled for several years now and consists of four of Scotland’s finest traditional musicians at the top of their game. Original member Jonny Hardie (fiddle/vocals) is joined by Aaron Jones (cittern/guitar/vocals)\, Ali Hutton (pipes/whistles) and Donald Hay (percussion/vocals) and collectively they comprise one of the hottest live tickets on the traditional Scottish music scene today. \nAs recent inductees to the BBC ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards ‘Trad Music Hall of Fame’ the ‘Dugs’ will celebrate thirty years on the road in 2022 by launching their fourteenth studio album ‘Knucklehead Circus’ in Winter 2021. A joyous\, uplifting and fun album full of compelling energy and intoxicating rhythm on which ‘OBD’ continue to innovate within their tradition while faithfully revealing its essence. \n Here’s to many more years of Old Blind Dogs! www.oldblinddogs.co.uk \nTickets: https://go.evvnt.com/2932375-0?pid=10427 \nGeneral Admission: $30.00

SUMMARY:Schools and the AI Dilemma
DESCRIPTION:Schools and the AI Dilemma: A CalMatters online event\nThursday\, June 26 from 12 – 12:30pm \n\nThe California State Library and Pacific Library Partnership are pleased to invite you and your library community to the next CalMatters online event: “Schools and the AI Dilemma”  \nOverview \n\n\nWith every wave of new technology comes both benefits and challenges. AI is no exception—and schools are particularly vulnerable. \nEducators face pressures to adapt to the technology quickly\, while balancing the dangers that can come with it. While policymakers grapple with how\, or even whether\, to regulate AI\, teachers and students are already using it as a tool and a crutch. \nJoin Education Reporter Tara García Mathewson and Deputy Editor Denise Zapata for a discussion of the risks and benefits of using AI in schools and how it is being regulated. \n\n\nPlease register here. \nSee the attached pdf to print out and promote the event to your patrons. \nPlease also check out the new companion online resources about AI and Schools on CalMatters for Learning\, a package of materials supported by the California State Library to help library staff\, patrons\, educators and organizers bring important issues to their communities. \nThis project is supported in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act\, administered in California by the State Librarian. \nThis is an online event. \nEvent URL: https://give.calmatters.org/event/schools-and-the-ai-dilemma/e695965 \nRegister: https://give.calmatters.org/event/schools-and-the-ai-dilemma/e695965/register/new/select-tickets
