Work together to find and document everything on the list—the more creative\, the better! Some items are easy wins\, while others will put your sleuthing skills to the test. Grab your team\, snap your photos\, and show off your team’s unique spirit.  \nBuild Your Crew: Teams can have up to 10 members. Whether they’re people or your favorite mascots\, everyone counts!  \n​Lead the Way: Each team needs just one registration and one designated Team leader for all communications. \nGet Ready: Watch your inbox! The Item List hits the Team Leader’s email at 5:00 PM on March 31. \n​The Challenge: You have the entire month of April to complete the list and send in your Team Submittal Package. Submit your Team Submittal Package by 5:00 PM on April 30th. DESCRIPTION:Santa Cruz Math Circle Returns\nSaturdays\, 10am – 12pm\, February 7 through March 28\nFinancial assistance is available. \nCabrillo College\, Building 300 \nThe Santa Cruz Math Circle is a weekly math meeting for students in grades 5th through 8th who love math. \nThe Santa Cruz Math Circle is back! Students in grades 5-8 are invited to join a weekly meet-up for students who love math and problem solving\, hosted by nonprofit the X Academy. Students work with mathematicians\, scientists\, and engineers on challenging topics that go beyond the classroom. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHeld at Cabrillo College in mid-county\, students meet with mathematicians\, scientists and engineers in an informal setting to work on interesting problems or topics in mathematics. The instructors are role models who use math everyday and many have PhDs in math. It engages bright students beyond traditional classroom math\, feeding their love of learning math and challenging them to grow their capabilities. We offer 6 – 8 sessions in the Fall and 6 – 8 sessions in the Spring. \nMath Circles provide a space for students to develop friendships with their intellectual peers and develop confidence in their math identity. \n Financial assistance is available. \nGame Day: We invite 3rd and 4th grade students for games and puzzles (free) accompanied by parents at the same time and location as the Math Circle. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you are interested in volunteering to teach\, assist with teaching or helping with logistics\, contact barbara@xacademy.org

At the “Deep Sea Designers” art workshop\, kids will learn about deep sea animals and habitats\, and use them as inspiration to design a communal mural. \nKids will learn about deep sea animals in Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary\, and use them as inspiration to create a communal work of art. \nThe finished piece will be on display at the center through May\, viewable during open hours: Wednesday – Sunday\, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This free event is recommended for children aged 5-10\, but is open to all ages. Registration in advance is required as space is limited. DESCRIPTION:Santa Cruz SPCA – Community Service Saturday\nLast Saturday of the month\, April 25\, 10am-1pm \nMany area middle and high school students are required to meet a certain number of community service hours in order to graduate or meet their program goals. \nWe realize that these students may not have the desire\, nor the ability\, to commit to volunteering with us for the long term so Community Service Saturdays was developed in an effort to both serve our community’s youth and to allow us to benefit from their valuable volunteer time! \nWe are able to accommodate up to 12 middle and/or high students in a session who are supervised by the SCSPCA’s Humane Educator or their designee. \nStudents will complete work\, that can include but may not be limited to\, shelter site maintenance\, office filing and sorting\, cleaning of the shelter site and animal enclosures\, animal enrichment\, preparing food bags and dog walking and cat TLC. \nHeld on the last Saturday of the month from 10am until 1pm\, our Community Service Saturdays program runs from September through May

This program is a 1 hour walk on a 0.6 mile\, flat and easy trail designed for all ages. \nWe will be covering the cultural history of this unique area including Indigenous groups\, loggers\, and preservationists. \nOf course\, we will also discuss natural history such as the amazing coast redwood and the CZU Lightning Complex Fire as well as the future of our park.
