SUMMARY:The Crucible by Arthur Miller
DESCRIPTION:Renegade Theater Co. Presents The Crucible by Arthur Miller\nFriday May 10\, 6pm\nSaturday May 11\, 1pm & 6pm\nFriday May 17\, 6pm\nSaturday May 18\, 1pm & 6pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe afflicted girls of Salem remain a mystery lost to time. What truly caused the fits that were attributed to witchcraft\, we will never really know. What we do know is that 24 people lost their lives\, and many more had their reputations destroyed because these girls accused them of being witches. \nDid they know what they were doing? Did they believe they accusations they were making? Or were they just intoxicated by having power and respect for the first time in their lives? Are these girls villains who knowingly destroyed lives\, or victims of their circumstances? Join us for The Crucible to decide for yourself. \nThe Crucible brings a classic historical story to life with themes that resonate equally with a modern audience. It is beautifully written\, and offers the opportunity for serious dramatic acting and unique interpretation. It’s been such a special experience to develop this show with our cast of young dramatic actors and to explore new depths in theater together \nJoin us to experience this profound and moving experience this May. 2 weekends only\, seats are limited. \nFeaturing Riley Lee as Betty Paris\, Katie Baker as Susanna Walcott\, Neva Lieby as Mary Warren & Jaeli Slaughter as Tituba. \n\n\nTickets: https://www.onthestage.tickets/show/renegade-theater-co/65e244c2f427a30e3f800e3b/tickets

SUMMARY:13 the Musical
DESCRIPTION:13 the Musical\nFriday & Saturday\, June 17 & 1\, 7pm \nEvan Goldman is plucked from his fast-paced\, preteen New York City life and plopped into a sleepy Indiana town following his parents divorce. Surrounded by an array of simpleminded middle school students\, he needs to establish his place in the popularity pecking order. Can he situate himself on a comfortable link of the food chain… or will he dangle at the end with the outcasts?!? \nComposed of a precocious cast\, no character in 13 is older than the show’s title\, making it wonderful for theatre companies that feature young artists. In the Broadway production\, even the band was made up of teens\, which is a fantastic way to involve a diverse group of artists. The cast is comprised entirely of teenagers\, but the stories that come to life here are ageless\, the emotions they explore timeless\, the laughter and the memories they provide priceless.

SUMMARY:Postpartum Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Postpartum Support International\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNEW SUPPORT GROUP!\n\n\n\nPostpartum Psychosis (PPP) is rare. It occurs in approximately 1 to 2 out of every 1\,000 deliveries.  After a PPP survivor’s symptoms have been stabilized\, peer support can be an important tool for recovery. Because PPP occurs less often than other perinatal mood disorders\, survivors can go their whole lives without meeting another PPP survivor.  In response\, PSI has created an online peer-to-peer support group for PPP survivors. This group is intended for those who are in recovery (no longer experiencing psychosis).   Whether your PPP experience was relatively recent or years ago\, you are welcome to attend our free\, online peer-to-peer support group.\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister here: https://www.postpartum.net/…/psi-online-support-meetings/\nFull Meeting Schedule

SUMMARY:Santa Cruz B.L.A.C.K. Film Series
DESCRIPTION:Santa Cruz B.L.A.C.K. Film Series\nTuesdays\, 6:30pm-9pm\, February 20\, March 19\, April 16\, May 14\, Wednesday\, June 18\n \n\n\n\nSCPL is pleased to partner with Santa Cruz Black on their  Santa Cruz Black Film Series to provide additional opportunities to watch and discuss these important films. \nB.L.A.C.K. On Screen is a five-documentary film series focusing on the themes behind our acronym BLACK: Building Legacies of Access in Communities of Kinship. \nStarting this month through June\, screenings will be the 3rd Tuesday at the Resource Center for Nonviolence and the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Capitola Branch Library. Doors open at 6:15\, screenings begin at 6:30. \nWhose Streets? is February’s film. Watch the trailer here . Each screening will be followed by a discussion and/or Q&A. Some of the filmmakers will be participating. Stay tuned! \nABOUT THE FILM When unarmed black teenager Michael Brown was killed by a white police officer in Ferguson\, Missouri\, and left lying in the street for hours\, it marked a breaking point for the residents of the St. Louis area and beyond. Uniting people from the community and across the nation\, a movement-propelled by young activists and Ferguson community members-was born. Told by the local residents and activists on the front lines fighting for justice\, equality and an end to police brutality\, Whose Streets? is an unflinching look at the Ferguson uprising and the movement that followed. \nThe series continues with: March 20\, Tell Them We Are Rising. The Story of Black Colleges and Universities explores the pivotal role historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) have played over the course of 150 years. \nApril 17\, Against All Odds: The Fight for The Black Middle Class. Acclaimed journalist Bob Herbert asks\, “Have Black Americans had a fair shot at the American dream?” He probes the harsh and often brutal discrimination that has made it extremely difficult for African-Americans to establish a middle-class standard of living\, while also exploring the often heroic efforts of Black families to pursue the American Dream in the face of unrelenting barriers. \nMay 22\, The Taking of Harris Neck: 80 years of Injustice for the Gullah People. The stunning marshlands of Harris Neck\, Georgia have a tragic history. In 1942\, the US government took 2687 acres of land inhabited by descendants of freed slaves to build an airbase. The government promised to give the land back after the war. Now 80 years later the community is still fighting to get their land back. The Taking of Harris Neck tells a story of trauma and racism – and the perseverance to overcome against all odds. \nJune 19\, Decendent follows decendents of the survivors from the Clotilda\, the last ship that carried enslaved Africans to the United States\, as they reclaim their story.
