SUMMARY:White Sky\, Falling Dragon
DESCRIPTION:White Sky\, Falling Dragon\n\nThurs\, Fri\, Sat\, 7:30 pm; Sat & Sun\, 2 pm\, April 19 – May 4 \nCarrying tragedy and hope\, a World War II US Army Air Force bombardier returns to his small town and his Chinese family. The first step home is to let go of the past. \nSteve “Spike” Wong’s original play White Sky\, Falling Dragon\, along with the original cast\, comes to Santa Cruz. Inspired by the playwright’s father\, Captain Ernest Wong\, USAAF\, the play tells the story of a young Chinese-American man’s return to small town Watsonville\, California\, in 1944 after his WWII service as a bombardier. \nAs he struggles to come to terms with the tragedy of his last mission\, his Chinese family obligations clash with his search for a path to his future\, and the way forward depends on a secret from the past. With its focus on Chinese-American culture\, immigration\, and military service during wartime\, the play is a unique blend of drama and comedy\, and a moving tribute to the complexities of what it means to come home. \n\nWritten and directed by Steve “Spike” Wong\nA co-production from Soaring Dragon Endeavors & Santa Cruz Actors’ Theatre \nGeneral admission: $35. Senior/student: $32 \nTickets: https://ci.ovationtix.com/35410/production/1173181 \nLearn more: https://soaringdragon.net

SUMMARY:Ballet de Seuss
DESCRIPTION:Ballet de Seuss\nSaturday and Sunday\, April 20 and 21\, 2pm\n\nIn Concert features the fun children’s ballet “Ballet de Seuss” with other mixed classical repertoire. Special guests the Tannery World Dance and Cultural Center dance companies!\n\n\n\nPerformances: Saturday and Sunday\, April 20 and 21  at 2 pm each day\, Crocker Theater at Cabrillo College\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\nBallet de Seuss brings four different stories alive for us! Unlike most choreography\, each segment begins with a word for word exerpt from their book. \nThe first story is The Cat in the Hat! It opens with these words. “The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play. So we sat in the house all that cold\, cold wet day.” \nNext we see Daisy-head Mayzie. “It’s hard to believe such a thing could be true\, and I hope such a thing never hapens to you. But it happened\, they say\, to poor Mayzie McGrew.” \nGertrude McFuzz is our third tale\, and it begins\, “There was once a girl-bird named Gertrude McFuzz\, and she had the smallest plain tail there ever was. One droopy-droop feather. That’s all she had” \nThe Sneetches story is the last we will see. “Now the Star-Belly Sneetches had bellies with stars. The Plain-Bellied Sneetches had none upon thars.”
