SUMMARY:History of Earth's Ice Ages with the Geology Gents
DESCRIPTION:History of Earth’s Ice Ages with the Geology Gents\nPosted February 21 \nJoin the Geology Gents as they explore the fascinating history of Earth’s ice ages!  Learn how our planet has experienced periods of complete ice coverage and alternating glacial and interglacial periods in this classic Rockin’ Pop-Up. \nView the video: https://loom.ly/Qy_Hli0 \nJoin the Geology Gents as they explore how Earth freezes over! Sure\, the weather is getting cooler in Santa Cruz as we head into winter\, but far cooler temperatures have prevailed on Earth during “ice age” climates. In this Rockin’ Pop-Up the Gents dive into the history of Earth’s ice ages. Some ice ages may have covered the entire planet with ice\, while other periods are punctuated by cold “glacial” ice ages and warm “interglacial” periods — which is what our Earth is currently undergoing. \nSubmit your questions ahead of time by emailing events@santacruzmuseum.org and feel free to include pictures of rocks you’d like identified! Pro-tip: the better the picture\, the better the ID. \nWatch Past Pop-Ups\nRead our blog Rock Record

TICKETS  Adults: $24 | Kids: $13.50 (ages 3-17) \n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur Family Concert is the finale of weeks of incredible educational experiences. Santa Cruz Symphony is a partner orchestra with Carnegie Hall for its Link Up program\, in which students grades 3–5 at dozens of schools learn to sing and play an instrument in their classrooms. This year\, kids discover all the interwoven ways in which music moves physically and emotionally in a program called The Orchestra Moves. You can learn more about all of our educational programs here. \nDuring the week before the Sunday Family Concert\, many students bring their instruments and voices to perform with Santa Cruz Symphony from their seats at a series of rousing weekday Youth Concerts. For many students\, this is their first time experiencing live orchestral music! \nFinally\, at the Family Concert on Sunday\, February 25\, the whole community has the chance to see and hear this year’s Link Up program performed by Santa Cruz Symphony and our community partners\, followed by the timeless classic The Carnival of the Animals. \nThe Family Concert is a vibrant musical event with entertainment for all ages. Bring the kids—we promise they’ll love it\, and so will you! \nWant to learn more about The Carnival of the Animals and how it came to be written? Click here!
