Students will fall in love with him at first sight. DESCRIPTION:Rhythms from Around the World\nSaturday\, December 6\, 2:30-4pm \nJoin Dror’s engaging presentation\, “Rhythms from Around the World\,” to explore diverse percussion instruments from the Middle East to West Africa\, including the Bendir\, Riq\, Doumbek\, and Djembe.  \nExperience the rich history and unique rhythms of each instrument in this educational and entertaining musical journey! \n\n\n\nDror’s presentation on “Rhythms from Around the World” is an engaging \, educational and entertaining experience that provides insight into the diverse cultural traditions of percussion instruments and their origins. \nThe lecture/performance covers a wide range of percussion instruments\, including the frame drums of the Middle East\, Bendir of Morocco\, Riq\, Doumbek\, and Tabla of Egypt\, Djembe of West Africa\, and shakers and rattles\, Congas\, Bongos\, Cajon. Dror will introduce each instrument and provide information about the cultural contexts in which they are used and the materials from which they are made. \nOne of the highlights of the presentation will be the demonstration of traditional rhythms and songs associated with each instrument. DESCRIPTION:Santa Cruz Lighted Boat Parade 2025\nSaturday\, December 2\, 5:30 – 7pm\n \nThe Lighted Boat Parade features 50 beautifully-decorated power and sailboats parading through the Santa Cruz Harbor. This is a family event with hot drinks and snacks available at various locations through the south harbor. \nThe parade takes place in the South Harbor between Murray Street bridge and the gas dock. Boats do not exit the harbor and generally do not travel as far as the light house. \n\nThe Parade in an annual event at the Santa Cruz Harbor where decorated boats circle the harbor shortly after sunset (5:30pm). \nPlan ahead and leave yourself extra time to find parking and good viewing location. \nViewing is available from the East Harbor launch ramp\,  and from a variety of harbor paths on either side of the harbor and the Murray Street bridge\, from the East Harbor launch ramp. Due to construction\, limited viewing is not available from the Murray Street Bridge in 2025. Walking paths follow Arana Gulch South to both the East and West side of the harbor may have limited access during Murray Street bridge construction. \nParking – Limited pay parking is available on both the East and West sides of the harbor. Please plan to arrive early to park at the harbor. Note that Murray Street bridge construction may require alternate routes to your desired viewing location. Limited accessible parking is available on both the East and West sides of the harbor. Please plan on arriving early if you anticipate requiring parking with accessibility. \nDetails about the Murray Street bridge construction and the status of pedestrian access walkways under the bridge on the east and west sides of the harbor can be found on the City of Santa Cruz Murray Street Bridge Seismic Retrofit page.
