SUMMARY:Live Oak Farmers Market
DESCRIPTION:Live Oak Farmers Market\nSundays 9am – 1pm year round \nStarted in 2000\, Live Oak Farmers Market is a neighborhood market has grown to be a weekly event that is loved by the communities of Live Oak\, Pleasure Point and Capitola. A decade has past since this market became year round and here you will find an excellent selection of organic produce from local farms\, tree ripened fruits\, dried fruit and nuts\, fresh bread\, pastries\, seafood\, pasture-raised organic meats and more. The market is also the epicenter of the clean food movement\, showcasing amazing Sunday brunch offerings like traditional Michoacan Mexican dishes\, dumplings\, crepes and artisan hand pies. This is your Sunday destination. \n  \nMarket Match\nMarket Match offers farmers’ market customers a dollar-for-dollar match up to $10 on their CalFresh (food stamp) cards at the Live Oak Market. If a customer swipes their CalFresh card for seven dollars\, they get seven dollars in Market Match tokens for free. Swipe $10\, you get $10. The goal of this project is to encourage CalFresh (EBT/SNAP) recipients to take advantage of fresh\, locally-grown fruits and vegetables. By offering an incentive that lowers the price of fresh produce\, we are helping shoppers stretch their food dollars while keeping their families healthy. SCCFM will be offering the Market Match program for the 2020 season. Locate the information booth and the market manager to redeem EBT coins and to participate in the Market Match Program.

Thank you! We can’t wait to see you at the event! \nABOUT THE BOOK + AUTHOR: \nStow away with Rick Steves for a glimpse into the unforgettable moments\, misadventures\, and memories of his 1978 journey on the legendary Hippie Trail. \nIn the 1970s\, the ultimate trip for any backpacker was the storied “Hippie Trail” from Istanbul to Kathmandu. A 23-year old Rick Steves made the trek\, and like a travel writer in training\, he documented everything along the way: jumping off a moving train\, making friends in Tehran\, getting lost in Lahore\, getting high for the first time in Herat\, battling leeches in Pokhara\, and much more. The experience ignited his love of travel and forever broadened his perspective on the world. \nThis book contains edited selections from Rick’s journal and travel photos with a 45-years-later preface and postscript reflecting on how the journey changed his life. Stow away with Rick Steves on the adventure of a lifetime through Turkey\, Iran\, Afghanistan\, Pakistan\, India\, and Nepal. \nYou know Rick Steves. Now discover the adventure that made him the travel writer he is today. \nSince 1973\, Rick Steves has spent about four months a year exploring Europe. His mission: to empower Americans to have European trips that are fun\, affordable\, and culturally broadening. Rick produces a best-selling guidebook series\, a public television series\, and a public radio show\, and organizes small-group tours that take over 30\,000 travelers to Europe annually. He does all of this with the help of more than 100 well-traveled staff members at Rick Steves’ Europe in Edmonds\, WA (near Seattle). When not on the road\, Rick is active in his church and with advocacy groups focused on economic and social justice\, drug policy reform\, and ending hunger. To recharge\, Rick plays piano\, relaxes at his family cabin in the Cascade Mountains\, and spends time with his son Andy\, daughter Jackie\, and his grandson…baby Atlas. Find out more about Rick at www.ricksteves.com and on Facebook. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShow time: 4:00 PM\, doors 3:15 PM\nTickets: $40\nAdvance tickets: www.buytickets.at/bookshopsantacruz\nEvent website: www.bookshopsantacruz.com/rick-steves
