SUMMARY:Santa Cruz Shakespeare's The Importance of Being Earnest
DESCRIPTION:Santa Cruz Shakespeare’s The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde\nJuly 14 – September 7\, with Opening Night on July 19 \nSanta Cruz Shakespeare\, a nationally recognized professional theater company in Santa Cruz County with deep local roots that go back more than 40 years\, invites you to experience Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest\, under the trees and stars of the Audrey Stanley Grove in Santa Cruz’s DeLaveaga Park this summer. \nOscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest has not been done in the 42-year history of Santa Cruz Shakespeare. It is one of the greatest comedies ever written\, filled with some of the sharpest wit in the English language. The most iconic figure of this masterpiece is the formidable Lady Bracknell; obsessed with tradition and propriety\, she cannot countenance her daughter Gwendolyn’s love of our titular Earnest. It’s not his money she objects to\, of which he has plenty\, but his bloodline: he has seemingly\, and famously\, descended from a HANDBAG. At least\, that’s where he was discovered as an orphan. The young strain and contrive against their elder’s conservatism; through \nfantasy\, imagination\, and so much wit\, they will reshape the world; redefining\, and renaming\, love’s conventions. \nThe Importance of Being Earnest runs July 14-September 7\, with Opening Night on July 19. \nPurchase tickets after May 1 and get more information at santacruzshakespeare.org/season-2024 \nSeasonal box office hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 12p.m. to 4p.m. beginning June 1. SUMMARY:The Addams Family
DESCRIPTION:The Addams Family\nFriday\, July 19\, 7pm; Saturday\, July 20\, 2pm & 7pm; Sunday\, July 21\, 12pm & 4pm \nPlease join me at CYT’s production of The Addams Family! I am playing Morticia and cannot wait! This family friendly musical is filled with laughter\, incredible acting + vocals\, and pure joy. \nSince I am moving away to college\, this is my final performance & I would love to pour my heart out to a sold out audience. It would be a blessing for you to come. I have spent 7 years working in this theatre company & have formed such profound bonds of community and love. I am so happy to be taking my final bow surrounded by love and respect. \nThe Addams Family is a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family\, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams\, the ultimate princess of darkness\, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet\, smart young man from a respectable family–a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough\, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now\, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before–keep a secret from his beloved wife\, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents. \nI hope to see you there. \nWhen purchasing tickets\, please assign my name “SAIRA” to your checkout so that I can earn points for my rehearsal team. \nTickets: cytsantacruz.org \nLocation: Don Price Performing Arts Chapel\, Monte Vista Christian School\, 2 School Way\, Watsonville

Call 831-460-6399. \n  \nAbout Santa Cruz Shakespeare – Featuring professional actors from around the country and inspired by deep local roots that go back more than 40 years\, Santa Cruz Shakespeare stages bold productions of the plays of Shakespeare and other great playwrights that stimulate audiences’ senses and spark their imagination.
