SUMMARY:Shadows Across Our Eyes
DESCRIPTION:Shadows Across Our Eyes\nFriday April 25 & Saturday 26\, 7pm; Sunday\, April  27\, 2pm \n“Thought-provoking . . . mysterious . . . fascinating . . . you couldn’t look away\, what happened on stage was too authentic-looking and authoritative” Jennifer Dunning\, New York Times \nShadows Across Our Eyes is bodies limited and constrained; aggressive and audacious; independent trajectories between movers that intertwine and entangle. Neon lines in tension cut the space\, iconic narrative stand offs back away and move into active self-bindings\, and outwardly focused mind states morph into inward unknowable personas. Shadows Across Our Eyes presents a series of narrative fragments unblended and open and deriving meaning from what we think we know refusing to consider what we shutter to create a story and a history. \nKranicke’s work Shadows Across Our Eyes\, performed with Zephyr member Molly Fe Strom\, is highly abstract\, yet open to myriad images and ideas. Neon lines in tension cut the space\, iconic stand-offs back away and move into active self-bindings\, outwardly focused mind states morph into inward unknowable personas. The dancers both acknowledge and lose track of each other through a variety of narrative fragments\, bodies squatting\, lunging\, suspended\, assessing\, confused\, and fragile. The work creates an atmosphere of tension as Kranicke and Strom move through the piece balancing their task of executing movement while encumbered and restrained\, hands bound and wearing heels. Shadows Across Our Eyes continues Kranicke’s interest in aesthetic investigations of the interaction between dance and architecture. Enhancing the choreography is lighting by Richard Norwood and costumes by Amanda Lee Franck. \nPRE SHOW PERFORMANCES\nERR SHIRLEY: Err is a recent University of California\, Santa Cruz graduate\, gaining their degree in Theatre Arts and Western Art Music with an emphasis in Vocal Performance. \nDEE KOHANNA DAVIS: Dee is a poet\, lyricist\, vocalist and voice and writing coach. She won the SuRaa award for short fiction for her story Green Dolphy and her poetry has been published in Porter Gulch Review and the Network. Her lyrics have been recorded by various artists\, among them Janis Siegal of Manhattan Transfer. \n Suggested Donation: $ 20.00 \n  \n

SUMMARY:Postpartum Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Postpartum Support International\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNEW SUPPORT GROUP!\n\n\n\nPostpartum Psychosis (PPP) is rare. It occurs in approximately 1 to 2 out of every 1\,000 deliveries.  After a PPP survivor’s symptoms have been stabilized\, peer support can be an important tool for recovery. Because PPP occurs less often than other perinatal mood disorders\, survivors can go their whole lives without meeting another PPP survivor.  In response\, PSI has created an online peer-to-peer support group for PPP survivors. This group is intended for those who are in recovery (no longer experiencing psychosis).   Whether your PPP experience was relatively recent or years ago\, you are welcome to attend our free\, online peer-to-peer support group.\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister here: https://www.postpartum.net/…/psi-online-support-meetings/\nFull Meeting Schedule

SUMMARY:Santa Cruz Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream
DESCRIPTION:Santa Cruz Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream \nJuly 13 – August 31\, with Opening Night on July 18 \nSanta Cruz Shakespeare invites you to experience Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream\, under the trees and stars of the Audrey Stanley Grove in Santa Cruz’s DeLaveaga Park this summer. \nOne of Shakespeare’s most famous and beloved works\, Midsummer is a perfect evening of theatre\, filled with magic\, love\, wild laughter and…an ass. In the mystical forest of Arden\, the world is pulled apart and woven back together over the course of a single miraculous night. Fleeing lovers and earnest workingmen stumble into the magic of a fairy kingdom at war with itself. Hijinks and heartbreak ensue. Most famously\, the amateur actor Nick Bottom is transformed into an ass before becoming the lover of the Fairy Queen\, Titania. But by morning\, all is set aright\, and we return to Athens for a trio of marriages and an amateur performance for the ages. One of the funniest plays ever written\, Midsummer celebrates our deep need to gather together\, sacrifice and celebrate. \nTickets available for purchase starting May 1. More information at santacruzshakespeare.org/season-2025 \nSeasonal box office hours beginning May 1 are Tuesday through Friday from 12p.m. to 4p.m. Call 831-460-6399. \nAbout Santa Cruz Shakespeare \nFeaturing professional actors from around the country and inspired by deep local roots that go back more than 40 years\, Santa Cruz Shakespeare stages bold productions of the plays of Shakespeare and other great playwrights that stimulate audiences’ senses and spark their imagination. SUMMARY:Santa Cruz Shakespeare's Pericles
DESCRIPTION:Santa Cruz Shakespeare’s Pericles\nJuly 29 through August 30\, with Opening Night on July 31; Time Choices: 2pm\, 7pm\, 8pm \nSanta Cruz Shakespeare invites you to experience Shakespeare’s Pericles\, under the trees and stars of the Audrey Stanley Grove in Santa Cruz’s DeLaveaga Park this summer. \nShakespeare’s brilliant late romance continues the 2025 festival’s sweep into the mythic. The first half of this rarely performed play follows Prince Pericles’ incredible journey through multiple kingdoms\, wild adventures\, desperate escapes; a magnificent love affair\, a pair of storms at sea and a single shipwreck. And that’s just part one. The second half shifts some fourteen years later to Pericles’ daughter\, Marina\, who must survive her own trials: an assassination attempt\, an abduction by pirates\, the violence of a brothel. By the power of her kindness\, wit and virtue\, she rises above each of these dangers\, finally meeting her father. The reunion of Pericles and Marina is one of the most beautiful scenes Shakespeare ever wrote. We cannot survive alone; the coming together of father and daughter is the rebirth of a world. The play ends\, indeed\, with another incredible rebirth; in love and unity\, miracles are possible. \nPericles runs July 29 through August 30\, with Opening Night on July 31. \nTickets available for purchase starting May 1. More information at santacruzshakespeare.org/season-2025 \nSeasonal box office hours are Tuesday through Friday from 12p.m. to 4p.m. beginning May 1.
