SUMMARY:Downtown Farmers Market 2022
DESCRIPTION:Downtown Farmers Market\nWednesdays\, May – Oct 1 – 6pm; Nov – April 1 – 5pm \nThe Downtown Santa Cruz Market runs year-round on Wednesdays\, 1-6pm May through October and 1-5pm November through April. Our largest and oldest market\, it is situated in the heart of Downtown Santa Cruz\, one block off of Pacific Avenue. Established in 1990\, many of the farms that sell here were and remain pillars of the organic and ecological farming movement. This is the place to eat with the seasons! The variety of fruits\, vegetables\, flowers\, pastured meats and other products is swoon worthy. \nThe Downtown Market also spotlights a large variety of up-and-coming\, unique cultural food businesses. This weekly spot may serve up the most diverse selection of ethnic foods in the county including momo\, naan and curry\, Japanese fermented misos\, Eritrean dishes\, crepes\, El Salvadorean pupusas\, traditional Italian cookies\, fish and chips and long-ferment fresh breads. Shopping at the Wednesday market is a wonderful way to support regional responsible farms and small local businesses. Fill your grocery bags! Then sit down for a delightful meal and rest your weary arms. \n

SUMMARY:Familypower Online Safety
DESCRIPTION:Familypower Online Safety\nWednesday\, October 19\, 4 – 5pm \nTechnology changes\, but Kidpower’s core principles for safety with people are timeless\, preparing people for safety online now and throughout their online lives. \n\n\nProgram Description\nTechnology changes\, but Kidpower’s core principles for safety with people are timeless\, preparing people for safety online now and throughout their online lives. We teach: \n\nAwareness to prevent problems before they start\nAssessment to avoid\, de-escalate\, or end unsafe situations\nMoving away from trouble emotionally and digitally\nBoundary setting to stop unwanted attention\nDisengaging to leave activities skillfully\nAssertive advocacy to get help with safety problems\nSafety planning for individuals and for groups of peers online together.\nEmotional safety to stay safe\, calm\, and effective in the face of threats\, harassment\, intimidation\, peer pressure\, bullying\, or other emotional attacks.\n\nTo be safe online\, youth need caring adults involved in their online lives. Without adult guidance\, youth online are more vulnerable to abuse\, coercion\, bullying\, manipulation\, and other harm. This is true even for digital natives more skilled with technology than their adults. See: \n\nKidpower Strategies for Safety Online – and Everywhere Else\nDigital Citizenship & Safety Agreement Template\nPreparing Kids for Good Digital Citizenship\n\nYour US$45/family registration includes one-on-one email support with questions before & after the workshop and links to resources to help you & your family apply\, adapt\, and practice the skills. \nWorkshop Fee: $45/family (includes children and accompanying adults)\nPre-registration is required as there is limited space.\nThis workshop is geared toward families with kids ages 9-14. Children outside of this age range are welcome to attend and the content may not be as relevant for them.
