DESCRIPTION:Downtown Farmers Market\nWednesdays\, May – Oct 1 – 6pm; Nov – April 1 – 5pm \nThe Downtown Santa Cruz Market runs year-round on Wednesdays\, 1-6pm May through October and 1-5pm November through April. Our largest and oldest market\, it is situated in the heart of Downtown Santa Cruz\, one block off of Pacific Avenue. The variety of fruits\, vegetables\, flowers\, pastured meats and other products is swoon worthy. \nThe Downtown Market also spotlights a large variety of up-and-coming\, unique cultural food businesses. This weekly spot may serve up the most diverse selection of ethnic foods in the county including momo\, naan and curry\, Japanese fermented misos\, Eritrean dishes\, crepes\, El Salvadorean pupusas\, traditional Italian cookies\, fish and chips and long-ferment fresh breads. Shopping at the Wednesday market is a wonderful way to support regional responsible farms and small local businesses. Fill your grocery bags! Then sit down for a delightful meal and rest your weary arms. \n

SUMMARY:Beginning Calligraphy Class Series
DESCRIPTION:Beginning Calligraphy Class Series\nWednesday\, May 7\, 10am – 12pm \nFriday\, May 9\, 1-3pm \nWednesday\, May14\, 10am – 12pm \nFriday\, May 16\, 1-3pm \nSigning up for this class should be a commitment to all four sessions. \nBeginning Calligraphy is a four session class focusing on the Italic hand\, (limited to 12 participants).  This style originated in Renaissance Italy as a form of “speed writing”.  In modern times\, it is considered a slower\, meditative style\,  written at a 5-degree slope\, holding the pen at a 45-degree angle. \nOur first session (Wednesday\, May 7\, 10am – 12pm) will include a slide presentation on calligraphy for inspiration.  Then we will spend the rest of our first day practicing specific pen exercises and basic letter forms.  We will be using a felt-tip calligraphy marker at first. \nIn the second session (Friday\, May 9th from 1-3PM)\, we will begin practicing the letters with a Speedball C-2 pen and ink. Since dipping a pen into ink is not the usual way people write in our day\, a bit of practice is needed to get comfortable with this way of writing. \nIn session three (Wednesday\, May 14th from 10AM-12PM)\, we will practice making our letters into words. We will practice some “alphabet sentences”. Participants will be asked to bring a short poem or quotation for the last class. \nFor the final session (Friday\, May 16th from 1-3 PM)\, we will learn about capital letters and each participant will work on a small  poem or quotation.  Gaining mastery requires lots of practice.  These four beginning sessions are meant to be an introduction for further study. \nAll materials for the four sessions will be provided. Each session builds upon the skills achieved in the previous session. \nAdults \nNancy Ruiz has been teaching calligraphy for many years in a variety of settings including public school classrooms and the Pajaro Valley Gallery in Watsonville. She was recently a faculty member of Cabrillo College and Hartnell College\, where she taught Art Appreciation and Art History and incorporated elements of the history of writing and calligraphy into these classes. She has a B.A. in Art/Art History from UCSC and an M.F.A. in the Art of the Book from Lone Mountain College in San Francisco. \n

SUMMARY:Strawberry Bonanza on Opening Day Felton Farmer's Market
DESCRIPTION:Strawberry Bonanza on Opening Day Felton Farmer’s Market\nTuesdays\, 1:30 – 5:30pm\, May 6 through October \nThe Felton Farmers’ Market is going big on opening day! Hello mountain towns! Hello to the San Lorenzo Valley – you special gorgeous place! \nWe love the Felton Market and you do to; let’s get back into the weekly groove of making this unique seasonal offering part of our routine.  Our bustling market takes over the St. John’s Church parking lot. This year\, May through October\, regional farms\, new and long-loved\, throw their tents up and stack their tables high in the heart of Felton. Here Romano beans overflow wooden boxes\, heirloom tomatoes paint the rainbow and Blenheim apricots melt in the mouth in their perfect sweet-tart way. Walk the aisles and find that unusual fruit you’ve never tried\, 100-year-old garlic passed down across oceans and over the generations\, one-of-a-kind Penny Ice Creamery flavors\, Roli Roti rotisserie chicken dripping over crispy potatoes\, J&M Sourdough Bagels\, fish and chips and enough produce to stock your fridge and cupboards for the week. A new coffee vendor\, Fool Hardy Coffee\, keeps us cool with icy drinks and offers a snacky menu for the snacker in me and you. \nLocated in the downtown corridor off Highway 9\, with redwood trees for a backdrop\, the Felton Market has been running for nearly 40 years. Six months of the year a quality collection of regional farms and food businesses transform a parking lot into a colorful array of tents selling fresh fruits and vegetables\, eggs\, artisanal bread\, seafood and other staple foods. Connecting residents directly with local farms\, the Felton Market is an essential part of the regional food system as well as a resource for nutritious organic foods\, agricultural education and pure fun. \nThis year we continue the FoodShed Project Event Series. The San Lorenzo lights up with these events and the market has a celebratory feeling with food at the heart. As tradition goes\, we host a Strawberry Shortcake Give Away on opening day bringing in special guest Jessica Tunis of Mountain Feed and Farm Supply to teach a quick jam workshop 3-4p! Enjoy some JCG\, Luna Dorada and Live Earth strawberries with whipped cream stacked on Beckmann’s Bakery famous shortbread\, then get into all the other festivities. Every week that follows will offer a family friendly atmosphere with live music and seating. The Market Match program helps EBT (CalFresh) users stretch their dollars\, matching the first $15 of EBT with an additional $15 in tokens for fresh fruits and vegetables. \nFoodShed Project events happen throughout the season bringing community partners\, workshops\, prizes\, activities and all kinds of fun. The SC Public Libraries bicycle book mobile is back for a series of scavenger hunts and the educational team at Mountain Feed & Farm Supply will join us too. \nPut the Applefest (September 9) and the Pumpkin Decorating Bonanza (October 14) on your calendar and the Tuesday Felton Farmers’ Market back in your weekly routine. \nJoin our WEEKLY NEWSLETTER for regular market updates and follow us on Instagram and Facebook. SUMMARY:Postpartum Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Postpartum Support International\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNEW SUPPORT GROUP!\n\n\n\nPostpartum Psychosis (PPP) is rare. It occurs in approximately 1 to 2 out of every 1\,000 deliveries.  After a PPP survivor’s symptoms have been stabilized\, peer support can be an important tool for recovery. Because PPP occurs less often than other perinatal mood disorders\, survivors can go their whole lives without meeting another PPP survivor.  In response\, PSI has created an online peer-to-peer support group for PPP survivors. This group is intended for those who are in recovery (no longer experiencing psychosis).   Whether your PPP experience was relatively recent or years ago\, you are welcome to attend our free\, online peer-to-peer support group.\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister here: https://www.postpartum.net/…/psi-online-support-meetings/\nFull Meeting Schedule

So\, come join the fun and learn is a holistic way with Ziggy and Lisa 🙂 \n\nWhere: READ program is currently hosted at a ranch in Watsonville.  Also we will be visiting libraries\, schools\, hospitals\, and nursing homes soon!  Ziggy Stardust is our dwarf miniature horse and he loves reading with all age levels.     \nLisa is also available to visit your horse(s) and READ with them!  This social/mental stimulation provides an overall sense of well-being.  They love it; see video How tab for evidence.  😉 \n\n\n\n\nWhen: For availability\, more information and directions\, text Lisa at (831) 227-9847
