SUMMARY:ParkStage Youth History Performance
DESCRIPTION:ParkStage Youth History Performance\n Mondays and Thursdays\, April 8 – May 16\, 3:30-5pm \nParkStage Youth is a new program for 8-13 year olds to learn and share history through performance. \nStudents will meet at the Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park to learn and rehearse an original story of local Santa Cruz history. \nThey will perform twice outdoors on the lawn at the Mission State Park on the weekend of May 17th. Students will gather to research\, rehearse\, and perform a short play telling a story from Santa Cruz history. By the end of the process\, they should be comfortable understanding the motivations of their historical character\, and some of the pressures of life here in the time period. They will also be able to pass this story on in a complex and collaborative manner\, by performing the story clearly and honestly together\, for audiences in two performances. \nThis program is free as part of the offerings of California State Parks\, but a $20 material fee for set and props is asked per student.

SUMMARY:Postpartum Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Postpartum Support International\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNEW SUPPORT GROUP!\n\n\n\nPostpartum Psychosis (PPP) is rare. It occurs in approximately 1 to 2 out of every 1\,000 deliveries.  After a PPP survivor’s symptoms have been stabilized\, peer support can be an important tool for recovery. Because PPP occurs less often than other perinatal mood disorders\, survivors can go their whole lives without meeting another PPP survivor.  In response\, PSI has created an online peer-to-peer support group for PPP survivors. This group is intended for those who are in recovery (no longer experiencing psychosis).   Whether your PPP experience was relatively recent or years ago\, you are welcome to attend our free\, online peer-to-peer support group.\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister here: https://www.postpartum.net/…/psi-online-support-meetings/\nFull Meeting Schedule

DESCRIPTION:Downtown Farmers Market\nWednesdays\, May – Oct 1 – 6pm; Nov – April 1 – 5pm \nThe Downtown Santa Cruz Market runs year-round on Wednesdays\, 1-6pm May through October and 1-5pm November through April. Our largest and oldest market\, it is situated in the heart of Downtown Santa Cruz\, one block off of Pacific Avenue. Established in 1990\, many of the farms that sell here were and remain pillars of the organic and ecological farming movement. This is the place to eat with the seasons! The variety of fruits\, vegetables\, flowers\, pastured meats and other products is swoon worthy. \nThe Downtown Market also spotlights a large variety of up-and-coming\, unique cultural food businesses. This weekly spot may serve up the most diverse selection of ethnic foods in the county including momo\, naan and curry\, Japanese fermented misos\, Eritrean dishes\, crepes\, El Salvadorean pupusas\, traditional Italian cookies\, fish and chips and long-ferment fresh breads. Shopping at the Wednesday market is a wonderful way to support regional responsible farms and small local businesses. Fill your grocery bags! Then sit down for a delightful meal and rest your weary arms. \n

SUMMARY:Nature Journal Studio
DESCRIPTION:Nature Journal Studio\n2nd Wednesdaysof the month\,  6:30 – 8pm \nNature journaling can help us view the natural world with new perspectives\, learn about our surroundings\, and see the extraordinary in the ordinary.  During monthly Nature Journal Studio sessions at the Museum\, Melinda Nakagawa will guide you through a topic as we practice skills in a group setting and share our learning with others. We will develop observation skills and awareness of nature\, improve sketching skills\, and practice strategies to bring the 3-dimensional world onto the page. Rather than an art class\, nature journaling is about observation\, curiosity\, wonder\, and honing these abilities.\n\nFree with Admission Register\n\nSign-up for other Nature Journal Studio events.\n\n*Free for Members and Youth under 18 | $4 General | $2 Students and Seniors \n\nAbout Melinda Nakagawa\nMelinda Nakagawa is a biologist\, naturalist\, and educator with a passion and skill for connecting people to nature. She founded Spark in Nature to guide participants to cultivate a deeper relationship with the natural world\, slowing down to nature’s pace and seeing rather than just looking at the world.  With an approach that bridges nature\, art\, and heart\, she welcomes all people regardless of their skill level or background. Through her gentle guidance\, hundreds of participants have awakened their spark of curiosity\, sense of wonder\, and connection to the natural world.  Melinda has partnered with local institutions such as the world-renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium and Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History to lead educator trainings on nature journaling. She leads the Monterey Bay Nature Journal Club’s free online Sunday sessions.  She has an M.S. degree in Marine Science\, and has also worked as a naturalist guide\, floral designer\, and wildlife rehabilitator. For the past two decades Melinda has kept nature journals and continues to learn more from nature with each journal she fills.\n
