We will develop observation skills and awareness of nature\, improve sketching skills\, and practice strategies to bring the 3-dimensional world onto the page. Rather than an art class\, nature journaling is about observation\, curiosity\, wonder\, and honing these abilities.\n\nFree with Admission Register\n\nSign-up for other Nature Journal Studio events.\n\n*Free for Members and Youth under 18 | $4 General | $2 Students and Seniors \n\nAbout Melinda Nakagawa\nMelinda Nakagawa is a biologist\, naturalist\, and educator with a passion and skill for connecting people to nature. She founded Spark in Nature to guide participants to cultivate a deeper relationship with the natural world\, slowing down to nature’s pace and seeing rather than just looking at the world.  With an approach that bridges nature\, art\, and heart\, she welcomes all people regardless of their skill level or background. Through her gentle guidance\, hundreds of participants have awakened their spark of curiosity\, sense of wonder\, and connection to the natural world.  Melinda has partnered with local institutions such as the world-renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium and Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History to lead educator trainings on nature journaling. She leads the Monterey Bay Nature Journal Club’s free online Sunday sessions.  She has an M.S. degree in Marine Science\, and has also worked as a naturalist guide\, floral designer\, and wildlife rehabilitator. For the past two decades Melinda has kept nature journals and continues to learn more from nature with each journal she fills.\n

DESCRIPTION:Postpartum Support International\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNEW SUPPORT GROUP!\n\n\n\nPostpartum Psychosis (PPP) is rare. It occurs in approximately 1 to 2 out of every 1\,000 deliveries.  After a PPP survivor’s symptoms have been stabilized\, peer support can be an important tool for recovery. Because PPP occurs less often than other perinatal mood disorders\, survivors can go their whole lives without meeting another PPP survivor.  In response\, PSI has created an online peer-to-peer support group for PPP survivors. DESCRIPTION:A Year with Frog and Toad\nFriday & Saturday12/6 & 12/7 and 12/13 & 12/14;\n7pm: Thursday 12/12\n2pm: Sunday 12/8 & Saturday 12/14 \n\nComing December 2024\, Scotts Valley Performing Arts (SVPA)\, our community theatre company\, invites you to spend A Year with Frog and Toad. \nYou read the books to your children or to yourself as a child.  Now come join us for a wonderful family musical theatre experience. \nSVPA will present the Broadway musical production of A Year with Frog and Toad opening on Friday\, December 6th and running for 2 weeks.  The cast includes 15 adults and 10 young people. Rehearsals are well underway\, having  started in Mid-September\, and sets are under construction. \nShows will run Friday 12/6 at 7pm\, Saturday 12/7 – 7pm\, Sunday 12/8-2pm\, Thursday 12/12-7pm\, Friday 12/13-7pm and 2 shows on Saturday 12/14 at 2pm & 7pm. \n\nPricing\nAdults: $30.00\nSeniors (65+)/Students: $25.00\nChildren (12 and Under): $20.00\nTo order tickets\, click on “BUY TICKETS” .

DESCRIPTION:READ program with Ziggy the mini\nOne hour Sessions\, 1pm and 2pm\, on Saturday and Sunday afternoons\, beginning  November 30 and December 1\n \nREAD program (Reading Equine Art Duo) with Ziggy the mini was designed to strengthen reading skills in a fun\, creative way. Students experience nature\, art\, and animals in a relaxed\, calming environment. \nFrom this\, Lisa (a Reading Specialist with 25+ years of experience) works with students to build and develop strong reading skills such as: phonemic awareness\, phonics\, fluency\, vocabulary development\, and reading comprehension. \nSince reading is a gateway to accessing information\, students will likely improve in all subject areas. \nIn addition\, their self esteem will begin to soar as they gain confidence with each reading session. \nLastly\, Ziggy’s adorable\, gentleness is just too cute for words. Students will fall in love with him at first sight. So\, come join the fun and learn is a holistic way with Ziggy and Lisa 🙂 \n\nWhere: READ program is currently hosted at a ranch in Watsonville.  Also we will be visiting libraries\, schools\, hospitals\, and nursing homes soon!  Ziggy Stardust is our dwarf miniature horse and he loves reading with all age levels.     \nLisa is also available to visit your horse(s) and READ with them!  This social/mental stimulation provides an overall sense of well-being.  They love it; see video How tab for evidence.  😉 \n\n\n\n\nWhen: For availability\, more information and directions\, text Lisa at (831) 227-9847
