SUMMARY:Santa Cruz Shakespeare's The Importance of Being Earnest
DESCRIPTION:Santa Cruz Shakespeare’s The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde\nJuly 14 – September 7\, with Opening Night on July 19 \nSanta Cruz Shakespeare\, a nationally recognized professional theater company in Santa Cruz County with deep local roots that go back more than 40 years\, invites you to experience Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest\, under the trees and stars of the Audrey Stanley Grove in Santa Cruz’s DeLaveaga Park this summer. \nOscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest has not been done in the 42-year history of Santa Cruz Shakespeare. It is one of the greatest comedies ever written\, filled with some of the sharpest wit in the English language. The most iconic figure of this masterpiece is the formidable Lady Bracknell; obsessed with tradition and propriety\, she cannot countenance her daughter Gwendolyn’s love of our titular Earnest. It’s not his money she objects to\, of which he has plenty\, but his bloodline: he has seemingly\, and famously\, descended from a HANDBAG. At least\, that’s where he was discovered as an orphan. The young strain and contrive against their elder’s conservatism; through \nfantasy\, imagination\, and so much wit\, they will reshape the world; redefining\, and renaming\, love’s conventions. \nThe Importance of Being Earnest runs July 14-September 7\, with Opening Night on July 19. \nPurchase tickets after May 1 and get more information at santacruzshakespeare.org/season-2024 \nSeasonal box office hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 12p.m. to 4p.m. beginning June 1. SUMMARY:La Cultura Cura!
DESCRIPTION:La Cultura Cura!\n\n\nAugust 15-25\n\nGet ready\, Santa Cruz County! This August\, the heart of Veracruz beats in our streets. Dance\, music\, and heritage collide in a vibrant cultural fiesta. From master classes to dazzling performances\, immerse yourself in the healing power of Mexican folklorico arts.\n\n\n\nEsperanza del Valle\, Cabrillo College\, and Universidad Veracruzana present: Por el Reforzamiento de la Identidad Cultural – Reinforcing Cultural Identity.\nRead the blog post interview with Janet Johns and Ruby Vasquez that details their journey and vision.\n\n\n\nFrom August 15-25\, Santa Cruz County will pulsate with the vibrant traditions of Veracruz\, offering residents and visitors alike a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Mexican folkloric arts. This vibrant program offers something for everyone – whether you’re a seasoned dancer\, a curious beginner\, or simply an appreciator of rich cultural traditions. By bringing these art forms to schools\, theaters\, and community spaces\, the conference aims to make the beauty of Mexican folkloric arts accessible to all of Santa Cruz County. \nFor more information on classes and performances\, visit Esperanza del Valle. \nYou can expect these highlights: \nDance and Music Classes: Twenty-four Ballet Folklórico del Puerto de Veracruz dancers and five Nematatlin de la Universidad Veracruzana musicians will lead classes for youth and adults\, from beginners to advanced practitioners. “We really want to encourage people to get out of their comfort zone and\, instead of being a spectator\, sign up and take a class\,” urges Ruby Vasquez\, emphasizing the event’s inclusivity. \nSchool Workshops: The visiting artists will bring their expertise directly to local students\, conducting workshops in selected PVUSD schools and after-school programs. \nGala Performances: Two distinct shows will showcase the diversity of Mexican dance and music. Ruby Vasquez explains\, “If you attend the gala performance at the Mello Center\, you’ll see ‘Rostros de Mexico\,’ featuring dances and music from different states in Mexico. The following weekend at the Crocker Theater\, ‘Raices del Pueblo’ will focus purely on the dances and music representing the state of Veracruz.” \nCommunity Events: Free events like “Todos Bailan Su Son” and a community Fandango (a party where people get together to dance\, to play and sing in a community setting) will invite everyone to participate in the joyous celebration of Mexican culture.

SUMMARY:Postpartum Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Postpartum Support International\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNEW SUPPORT GROUP!\n\n\n\nPostpartum Psychosis (PPP) is rare. It occurs in approximately 1 to 2 out of every 1\,000 deliveries.  After a PPP survivor’s symptoms have been stabilized\, peer support can be an important tool for recovery. Because PPP occurs less often than other perinatal mood disorders\, survivors can go their whole lives without meeting another PPP survivor.  In response\, PSI has created an online peer-to-peer support group for PPP survivors. This group is intended for those who are in recovery (no longer experiencing psychosis).   Whether your PPP experience was relatively recent or years ago\, you are welcome to attend our free\, online peer-to-peer support group.\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister here: https://www.postpartum.net/…/psi-online-support-meetings/\nFull Meeting Schedule
