SUMMARY:Nature Journaling: Stick Season
DESCRIPTION:Nature Journaling: Stick Season\nWednesday\, January 29\, 6 – 7:30pm \n\nExplore the hidden beauty of winter and uncover the secrets of seemingly bare forestscapes. The leaves may have fallen\, but the beauty of the trees remains to be captured on canvas. \nUsing watercolors\, colored pencils\, and other mixed media\, participants will make artistic observations of dormant plants’ aesthetics in winter. Develop observation skills and an awareness of nature\, improve sketching and painting skills\, and practice strategies to bring the 3-dimensional world onto the page. More than just an art class\, nature journaling is about observation\, curiosity\, wonder\, and honing these abilities. \n\nRegister\n\nClass Size: 30 Students\nClass Fee: $38 – Museum Members receive a special discounted price applied at checkout.\nMaterials:  All art supplies are included in the class fee. Participants are welcome to bring their own sticks\, branches\, and botanical materials for reference.\nInstructor: Melinda Nakagawa \nThis class takes place indoors. Supplies may get messy\, so casual attire is recommended. \n\n\nAbout the Instructor\, Melinda Nakagawa\nMelinda Nakagawa is a biologist\, naturalist\, and educator with a passion and skill for connecting people to nature. She founded “Spark in Nature” to guide participants to cultivate a deeper relationship with the natural world\, slowing down to nature’s pace and seeing rather than just looking at the world. With an approach that bridges nature\, art\, and heart\, she welcomes all people regardless of their skill level or background. \nWebsite: https://www.sparkinnature.com/

The variety of fruits\, vegetables\, flowers\, pastured meats and other products is swoon worthy. \nThe Downtown Market also spotlights a large variety of up-and-coming\, unique cultural food businesses. This weekly spot may serve up the most diverse selection of ethnic foods in the county including momo\, naan and curry\, Japanese fermented misos\, Eritrean dishes\, crepes\, El Salvadorean pupusas\, traditional Italian cookies\, fish and chips and long-ferment fresh breads. Shopping at the Wednesday market is a wonderful way to support regional responsible farms and small local businesses. Fill your grocery bags! SUMMARY:The Art of Listening Seminar
DESCRIPTION:The Art of Listening Seminar\nTuesday\, January 28\,  4:30pm\n\n\n“We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.”The Art of Listening is an interactive two-part seminar providing practical advice on creating and sustaining harmony in daily life through effective communication. Good communication is achieved not through speaking but by listening. We each see the world based on lived experience\, and no individual perspective is less real than another. The key to good listening is curiosity. When we listen with genuine interest we demonstrate respect and build trust. Attentive listening allows us to better understand how and why someone draws the conclusions they do. \nPresenter Bio: \nTimothy Lydgate joined Seattle’s restorative justice program in the 1980s and has been a student of human affairs ever since. He helped establish the divorce mediation program at the Conflict Resolution Center of Santa Cruz\, served on the board of the National Association for Community Mediation and has trained mediators across the country. As the Mountain Mediator he provides services for anyone facing discord in family\, business or faith settings.

SUMMARY:Support for Parents of High Needs Babies
DESCRIPTION:Support for Parents of High Needs Babies\n4th Tuesdays of the month\, 9:30am pst \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThank you\, Postpartum Support International\n\n\n\nNEW SUPPORT GROUP: Support for Parents of High Needs Babies  will take place on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 9:30 am PST!\n\n\n\nLed by trained peer facilitators\, this group is for parents of “high need” newborns to 12-month-old babies. All babies have needs and depend on their caregivers\, yet some babies have more needs than others. “High needs baby” is not a medical term or diagnosis\, but it is a term used to describe babies with some of these characteristics: constant crying (for several hours in a row)\, difficult to soothe\, and easily overstimulated. A highly sensitive or high needs baby might not sleep without being held\, might cry for three hours every evening\, or might get restless and frustrated when transitioning from one environment to another. We know that parents of “colicky” or high-needs babies can feel isolated\, exhausted\, and overwhelmed. You are not alone\, and we are here to help. Crying babies are welcome too!\n\n\n\nIf you are looking for a group for parenting a medically fragile baby or child\, please check out our group specifically for those parents.\n\n\n\nTo view all our online support groups\, visit http://bit.ly/FindSupportGroup

SUMMARY:Postpartum Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Postpartum Support International\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNEW SUPPORT GROUP!\n\n\n\nPostpartum Psychosis (PPP) is rare. It occurs in approximately 1 to 2 out of every 1\,000 deliveries.  After a PPP survivor’s symptoms have been stabilized\, peer support can be an important tool for recovery. Because PPP occurs less often than other perinatal mood disorders\, survivors can go their whole lives without meeting another PPP survivor.  In response\, PSI has created an online peer-to-peer support group for PPP survivors. This group is intended for those who are in recovery (no longer experiencing psychosis).   Whether your PPP experience was relatively recent or years ago\, you are welcome to attend our free\, online peer-to-peer support group.\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister here: https://www.postpartum.net/…/psi-online-support-meetings/\nFull Meeting Schedule

SUMMARY:Live Oak Farmers Market
DESCRIPTION:Live Oak Farmers Market\nSundays 9am – 1pm year round \nStarted in 2000\, Live Oak Farmers Market is a neighborhood market has grown to be a weekly event that is loved by the communities of Live Oak\, Pleasure Point and Capitola. A decade has past since this market became year round and here you will find an excellent selection of organic produce from local farms\, tree ripened fruits\, dried fruit and nuts\, fresh bread\, pastries\, seafood\, pasture-raised organic meats and more. The market is also the epicenter of the clean food movement\, showcasing amazing Sunday brunch offerings like traditional Michoacan Mexican dishes\, dumplings\, crepes and artisan hand pies. This is your Sunday destination. \n  \nMarket Match\nMarket Match offers farmers’ market customers a dollar-for-dollar match up to $10 on their CalFresh (food stamp) cards at the Live Oak Market. If a customer swipes their CalFresh card for seven dollars\, they get seven dollars in Market Match tokens for free. Swipe $10\, you get $10. The goal of this project is to encourage CalFresh (EBT/SNAP) recipients to take advantage of fresh\, locally-grown fruits and vegetables. By offering an incentive that lowers the price of fresh produce\, we are helping shoppers stretch their food dollars while keeping their families healthy. SCCFM will be offering the Market Match program for the 2020 season. Locate the information booth and the market manager to redeem EBT coins and to participate in the Market Match Program.
