Enjoy live music by Mariachi Juvenil Corazón Jaliscience from Hollister and Laura Rebolloso\, singer\, dancer\, poet and co-founder of the legendary Son Jarocho band from Veracruz\, Son de Madera. Rebolloso is considered a virtuoso of the four- stringed instrument known as leona. She will perform with Son Jarocho Santa Cruz. The celebration also includes a dance performance by Watsonville’s own folkloric group\, Esperanza del Valle. \nAt 7:30PM\, at 318 Union Street Room A150\, after the performances\, WFF will present a free screening of a classic comedy from the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema: El Rey del Barrio / King of the Neighborhood with beloved actor/comedian Tin Tán at Cabrillo College’s Watsonville Center (next to the Plaza). This film has been painstakingly restored and features English subtitles. \nThis special screening is a WFF collaboration with the Mexican Consulate in San Jose and the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE). Closing the evening with a classic Mexican film from the 1950’s will be a lot of fun! We’ll hunt for the fossilized remains of ancient creatures like megalodon and explore the Santa Margarita Formation — an ocean sediment rock layer that was formed 10-12 million years ago! \nLocation: Private property in Scotts Valley\n$15 Members | $25 General \nWhat to Expect \n\nExact meet-up location will be shared upon registration.\nWe will not walk far from the parking area and will mostly be working and learning in one main spot. Terrain is sandy and mostly flat.\nFeel free to bring a chair\, stool\, or knee pad. DESCRIPTION:Santa Cruz Fire Open House and BBQ\n\nSaturday\, September 16\, 11am – 4pm\n\n\n\nSanta Cruz Fire would like to extend a warm welcome to the community to come visit them on Saturday\, September 16th at the first annual Firefighter Open House\, BBQ\, and Fundraiser\, located at 711 Center Street.\n\nThere will be good food\, firefighter demonstrations of skills they use every day\, a bounce house\, and much more! Come meet some of your local firefighters and even try your hand at some of the firefighter skills! This will be a fantastic family-oriented event with a little something for everyone. Kids are $10 and adults are $15.
