SUMMARY:United Against Hate
DESCRIPTION:United Against Hate\nSunday\, November 19\, 4pm \nBystander Intervention Training teaches bystanders about the principles of nonviolence and de-escalation techniques. In this training participants learn hands-on skills about how to de-escalate a hate incident before it leads to violence\, how to create a safe space\, and how to support the person being targeted. This training opportunity is presented by CAIR California. \nAlthough the Branciforte Branch is closed on Sundays\, this event will take place there. \nRegistration is required. Register at: https://santacruzpl.libcal.com/event/11435184 \nUnited Against Hate was created by civic leaders in direct response to the sharp rise in expressions of hate in our communities. Our organization\, Santa Cruz County for Safe and Inclusive Communities (SCCUSIC) wants to empower local residents to take action in our communities and alter the course of this growing intolerance. When we come together to work against hate\, we can restore respect and civil discourse\, embrace the strength of diversity and build inclusive and equitable communities for all. \nUnited Against Hate Week (Nov. 12-20\, 2023) is a call for a week of local civic action by people in every community to stop the hate and implicit biases that are a dangerous threat to the safety and civility of our neighborhoods and community. We have extended the week to incorporate additional opportunities to connect and learn.

Circus connecting with Commedia\, the oldest two performance artworks. SUMMARY:Frozen Jr by San Lorenzo Valley Middle School
DESCRIPTION:Frozen Jr by San Lorenzo Valley Middle School\nFriday & Saturday 7pm\, December 1 – 2;  and Sunday 2pm December 3 \nSan Lorenzo Valley Middle School Theatre is proud to present Frozen JR.\, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez\, book by Jennfier Lee\, based on the Disney film written by Jennifer Lee and directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee. \nPerformances are Friday and Saturday at 7:00 p.m.\, with a Sunday matinee at 2:00 p.m. \nA limited number of tickets will be available to purchase at the door 1-hour prior to showtime. \nAdvanced tickets are available online at the SLV Theatre Boosters webpage. She flees the kingdom to avoid further damage\, only to be pursued as a criminal by the frightened and angry citizens of Arendale. Can her sister find her and bring her back safely to restore Arendale back to normal? We follow Anna’s Odyssean journey and meet the colorful characters she teams up with to attempt to find and reunite with her beloved sister. Drawing inspiration from Hans Christian Anderson’s tale of “The Snow Queen”\, Frozen JR. has been transformed from a feature film into a broadway musical with classic songs and heroic characters that only Disney Studios could create. A splendid time is guaranteed for all.
