You will go home with baby seedlings\, seeds and a list of helpful books that can be checked out from the library’s amazing collection. All materials will be provided but bring a pair of gloves if desired. \nCommunity-led Learning Instructor Bio: Janice Kuch is a UC Master Gardener and has been gardening with California Native Plants for over 20 years. \nRegister here or just come on in!

SUMMARY:Exploring History Through Colors at Castro Adobe
DESCRIPTION:Exploring History Through Colors at Castro Adobe\nSaturday\, September 21\, 10:30am – 3:30pm \nDuring the Rancho Period of California history\, dried flowers played a vital role in the art of dyeing thread\, adding vibrant and natural hues to fabrics. Each shade told a story of the earth\, the seasons\, and the creativity of the people who lived here in the 1800’s. \nVisit the Castro Adobe open house to see the Santa Cruz Textile Art Guild demonstrating weaving and dyeing skills used in early California. Some of the dyes will actually be extracted from the flowers in the picture that were recently grown in Joe’s Garden on the Rancho \nOur open house will be on Saturday\, September 21 from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Listen to live music by the Poet Laureate of Watsonville\, Bob Gomez and his wife Denise while viewing our newly installed interpretive displays. Reservations for a free self-guided tour are recommended at: www.santacruzstateparks.as.me/CastroAdobeOpenHouse \n\n\nEvent made possible by Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks and California State Parks.
