DESCRIPTION:Farley’s Christmas Wonderland 2024\nFriday\, November 29 – December 31\, 5:30 – 8:30pm’ish \nJoin us at Farley’s Christmas Wonderland. We are a walk-in Christmas display located in the midtown of Santa Cruz\, CA. Our exhibit is very traditional: lots of Christmas trees\, garlands\, sleighs\, an elf village\, miniature village’s\, and a log cabin that Santa uses for his rest stops. Being Irish\, where you have elves you have fairies and we have a fairy grotto with 2 waterfalls and fairies that can be viewed on special nights. Also\, on those special nights\, it snows here. \nUnlike all other Christmas displays where you drive by\, we are a walk-in\, where people will spend time sitting on the bench in the Fairy Garden looking and listening to the waterfall or sitting in the rocking chairs in the log cabin in front of the fireplace. If you bring small kids especially little girls\, do not expect to be leaving soon. When they discover Rivi’s house – you’re not leaving. \nDuring the Christmas holidays a lot of people travel and  where ever they go the one thing all travels want to see are Christmas decorations – they want to see how people in that country celebrate and decorate for Christmas. And every year we get more travelers from all over the world who are visiting the San Francisco Bay Area or the Monterey Bay. \nNote from Santa Cruz Parent: Children and adults alike love to visit Farley’s Winter Wonderland and have done so for years! Mr. Farley welcomes donations to help with the costs of electricity\, repairs\, replacements\, storage and more. Food and hot beverages will also be available for purchase from Epoch Eats\, Tacos el Jerry\, and Fool Hardy Coffee. \nTICKETS    Tickets are $10/adult   $5 for youth 6-11    Children under 6 FreeOkay\, so who – or what – is Krampus?  \nIn Germanic folklore\, Krampus is the sketchy\, darker counterpart to St Nicholas. They’re actually business partners\, in a way. While St Nicholas rewards the good kids with candy and treats\, Krampus keeps an eye on the bad kids and deals with them appropriately. He gives the “you better be good for goodness’ sake” to a whole new level. \nWorldwide\, particularly here in the U.S.\, Krampus has become a bit of a popular culture icon. He’s appeared in movies and TV shows and in city-wide celebrations featuring “Krampus Parades” and “Krampus (pub) Crawls”. \nThink of learning about Krampus as expanding your appreciation of holiday traditions from other cultures. Fun facts: \n\nHis name comes from the German word “Krampen” meaning “claw.”\nHe’s celebrated on December 5th\, which is also known as “Krampus Naucht.”\nTechnically\, he’s half goat and half demon.\nHe’s a bit of a lush. In some European Krampus events\, it’s customary to offer him Schnapps.\n\nWhile his story leans on the dark side\, Krampus affairs are family-friendly events where you can have some light\, scary fun. It’s a way to nudge a bit of almost Halloween-type fun into the traditional Christmas season.  So gather your family and friends\, step into your favorite Krampus attire and join others at Krampus Night at Holiday Lights.

DESCRIPTION:Holiday Production: A Christmas Carol by Santa Cruz Shakespeare\nNovember 23 through December 24 – Scroll down for dates|times.\n \nSanta Cruz Shakespeare (SCS) debuts a new holiday tradition for the whole family with its production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol\, starring Mike Ryan as Ebeneezer Scrooge.\nAudiences can expect a theatrical and music-filled adaptation of this classic play. \nThe production will run from November 23 through December 24\, at the Veterans Memorial Hall at 846 Front St in Downtown Santa Cruz. There will be 28 performances\, including shows at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. \nThe show will be directed by SCS Artistic Director\, Charles Pasternak and will star SCS favorite Mike Ryan as Scrooge. The performance will be filled with music\, with Luke Shepherd serving as the production’s music director and sound designer. Carols will be sung throughout the show. \nTicket prices range from $20 to $60. The show is 90 minutes\, no intermission.
