DESCRIPTION:Watsonville Reads\nWatsonville Reads is a community engagement program that aims to bring people together through the shared reading experience of books tied to a particular theme. This year’s Watsonville Reads theme is “Bringing Awareness to Japanese and Japanese Americans History\, Culture and Heritage”. Watsonville Reads will feature book discussions\, craft-making programs and writing workshops. \nWe have selected two books that are representative of our selected theme and are intended to inspire and foster lively discussions: \n“The Buddha in the Attic” by Julie Otsuka \n“Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet” by Jamie Ford. \nWe have the books available in English in our collection as individual copies at both the Main and Freedom Libraries or as part of our book club kits at the Main Library. \n~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ \nWatsonville Reads es un programa de participación comunitaria que tiene como objetivo unir a la gente a través de la experiencia compartida sobre la lectura relacionada con un tema en particular. El tema este año es “Crear conciencia sobre la historia\, la cultura y el legado japonés y japonés americano”. Through the month of February\, Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is reducing adoption fees to ½ the normal rates and holding several adoption events to make it easier to find that special furry someone…\n\n\n\nAdopters need to be at least 21 years old\, have a photo ID\, and should be thoughtful and aware of what types of pets are appropriate for their lifestyle and allowed where they live.\n\n\nLet SCCAS help you find Somebody to Love in February!\n\n\n\nReduced adoption fees include vaccinations\, spay or neuter surgery\, and a microchip to help protect the pet and set you up for a long\, healthy life together!\n\n\nAdult dogs = $75 (usually $150)\nPuppies under 6 months old = $105 (usually $210)\nAdult cats = $55 (usually $110)\nKittens under 6 months old = $60 (usually $125)\nRabbits = $35 (usually $75)\n\n\n\nThe Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter at 1001 Rodriquez Ave\, Santa Cruz 95062 is open from 11am to 6pm every day (closed February 19) and has hundreds of adoptable pets to choose from in the shelter and in foster homes.
