The Santa Cruz County Youth Symphony presents its first live concert in nearly two years! After shifting its program online during Covid, the Youth Symphony returned to in-person rehearsals this fall. Experience the joyful results in this performance by accomplished young musicians ages 12 to 20 from throughout Santa Cruz County.
The program features Gabriel Fauré’s “Pelléas et Mélisande,” with its famous Sicilienne; Henry Cowell’s soulful “Hymn and Fuguing Tune No. 3”; and Frank Ticheli’s “In C-Dorian,” written for performance during Covid. Music Director Nathaniel Berman, now in his 11th year at the helm, leads the orchestra.
The one-hour program opens with The Papillon Quartet, an ensemble in the Youth Symphony’s Chamber Music Academy, performing Corelli’s beautiful “Christmas Concerto.”
