Gadgets and Gizmos
This online exhibition celebrates the ingenuity of the people of the Santa Cruz Mountains through the patents they filed or the patented machinery they built here. Enjoy exploring this exhibition by clicking this link: http://www.slvmuseum.com/gg.html
“We have just opened and it is a great exhibition. It is especially pertinent to California Grade 2/3 curriculum – Compare and Contrast what life was like 100 years ago – we have a range of artifacts, some gadgetry and some homemade versions of machine/tools that people used here in the Valley.
I am sure it will appeal to parents and children alike – though it is not hands-on at all because of COVID-19 – which is too bad. We also explore (though this is heavier) the inventiveness of the local residents through the patents they filed or innovative machinery they installed.”

We also have an outside exhibition – great for tweens and teens – from the Smithsonian called Picturing Women Inventors. See attached image. It asks questions such as “how old do you need to be to invent” and cites a teenager who made a difference.
