Composting with Worms (Vermicomposting) Workshop

March 29, 10am – 12pm

Located at London Nelson Community Center
Children must be 8 years or older.

Have you been curious about vermicomposting? Maybe you have tried before but need a refresher. No matter your experience, join the City of Santa Cruz Waste Reduction Staff for a workshop all about vermicomposting! In this workshop, we will build a vermicomposting bin together, discuss best practices for maintaining a bin, and discuss strategies for reducing wasted food and why it matters. For those ready to start their vermicomposting journey, we will also offer basic supplies for a “DIY” worm bin tower.

Castings or “black gold” created from worm composting systems offer a hefty dose of healthy microorganisms and other benefits for your garden and soils. Caring for a worm bin gives you gold for your garden and can contribute to a sense of well-being.

If you already have a worm bin that could use some attention, feel free to sign up and bring your questions and photos! We will have time to discuss and learn from each other as a group. Hope to see you there!

Pre-registration required, space is limited!
